I recently had the pleasure of photographing Lorrie Blais.
Lorrie is running for Miss North Ontario Pageant and is representing Val Caron.
The 21 year old who is just beginning her modelling career, needed some photos to get her started.
We planned our first photo session at Bell Mansion. We did some shots with her coat on which matched her beautiful blue eyes.
Taking photos outside in the winter is wonderful if it's not too cold and 20 below zero with blowing wind.
I added a beautiful texture to one of the photos to give it an artsy look.
Our second photo session had some extra creativity to it.
We started off in my backyard, an elegant dress and some wings.
She changed into a different dress before we headed out to Langdon Park on Martin Rd. In Blezard. Valley. We weren't able to walk on the trail but managed to stay close to the parking lot.
Even though it was only minus three, it started to get cold. Lorrie was brave to be outside for a long period of time. We would stop occasionally and warm up inside the vehicle before taking more photos.
I have an old greenhouse that has been out of operation for a few years and remembered how warm it was in there. There was lots of overgrown weeds in there which made an interesting backdrop for photos. I used part of the intertwining weeds as a headpiece.

Some of the judging is based on scholastic testing, public speaking, interview with the judges and an opening number.
The Pageant celebrates its 10th anniversary and takes place at the Fraser Auditorium Laurentian University May 1-2.
