We Live Up Here In Sudbury

I was thrilled when I found out one of my photos made it into the We Live Up Here volume 2 book.

I took this photograph of train tracks located in Azilda just before Hwy 144 near Montee Rouleau one foggy morning.

It started a couple of years ago when volume 1 was published by a couple of Sudburians Andrew Knapp and Christian Pelletier.

The book features 150 photographs from the Sudbury area that were submitted by local photographers.
It’s a beautiful book. I recognize a few names from around Sudbury. It’s nice to see so many members of the community get involved and submit some of their best work. Photos of people, scenery, downtown Sudbury and old photographs were accepted as part of the categories for submission.

Perhaps we may see a volume 3 in a couple of years.

The Launch Party was held on Friday evening at the Grand Theatre building on Elgin St. The first 25 people to show up received a free book. I went with my daughter Jade.

As we were in line, they passed around these buttons.

I got a kick out of it. Most people who grew up in Sudbury can relate to a lot of the funny sayings on them. Here are just a few of my favourites; Hamner, Sudbury Saturday Night, Alex Fucking Trebek, I Remember Klutzy The Clown, I’m A Valley Girl, Nasa Was Here, Crater Sudbury and Sudbury Saturday Night.

It was getting cold out before finally being let inside. They opened the doors at 8 p.m. We both received a free book because we showed up early. I also pre-ordered a book before the launch.

It was a fun evening.

There was music and face painting for the kids. Some people dressed up. The food was amazing.
Jade and I split a Nutella, Peanut Butter and Reeses Pieces grilled sandwich. Yum.
